સ્થાપના

જામનગર જીલ્લાનાં ઓખા મંડળ તાલુકાનાં ૪૨ ગામો પૈકી ચાર ગામ ઓખા ગ્રામ પંચાયત, બેટ-દ્વારકા ગ્રામ પંચાયત, આરંભડા ગ્રામ પંચાયત અને સૂરજકરાડી ગ્રામ પંચાયત નું એકત્રીકરણ કરી ૨૦૦૬ માં નવા અધિનિયમ અંતર્ગત શહેરી વિકાસ મંત્રાલય દ્રારા નગરપાલીકાની રચના કરવામાં આવી છે. જામનગર થી ઓખા રેલમાર્ગ તથા રસ્તા દ્વારા પહોંચી શકાય છે. જામનગર થી દ્વારકાનું અંતર ૧૭૦ કી.મી. અને દ્વારકાથી ઓખાનું અંતર ૩૦ કી.મી. ઓખા નગરપાલીકા વિસ્તારનાં ત્રણેય બાજુ અરબી સમુદ્ર છે. બેટ-દ્વારકા હિંદુ તથા શીખ સંપ્રદાયનાં પવિત્ર યાત્રા – તીર્થ સ્થાનો આવેલ છે.

હિન્દુ સાહિત્ય પ્રમાણે મગધદેશના રાજા જરાસંઘના ત્રાસથી કંટાળીને ભગવાન કૃષ્ણ, જેને વિષ્ણુના આઠમા અવતાર માનવામાં આવે છે. તેઓ દ્વારિકામાં આવીને વસ્યા. આ માટે તેઓએ ઓખામંડળના કાબાઓ સાથે સંઘર્ષ કરવો પડયો હતો. શ્રી કૃષ્ણએ પોતાની રાજધાની ગોમતી ઘાટે ‍દ્વારકાને પોતાની રાજધાની બનાવી. હાલનું ત્રૈલોક્યસુંદર જગદમંદિર કૃષ્ણના પ્રપૌત્ર વ્રજનાભે બંધાવ્‍યું હતું. જે પોતાની ધર્મપ્રિયતા માટે લોકપ્રિય હતો. હિંદુઓમાં એવી માન્‍યતા છે કે આ મંદિર રાતોરાત એટલે કે માત્ર એક જ રાતમાં કોઈ દૈવીશક્તિથી વ્રજનાભના માર્ગદર્શન હેઠળ બંધાયું છે.

ભારતનાં ગુજરાત રાજયમાં પશ્વિમ છેવાડે LAG. ૨૨ °.૨૮’ ઉત્તર અક્ષાંશ અને LONG ૬૯ °.૦૫’ પૂર્વ રેખાંશ પર ઓખા નગર વસેલુ છે. ઓખા નગરની સ્થાપનાં આશરે ૧૫૦ વર્ષ પૂર્વે થયેલી છે. ઓખા ગામોનો વિકાસ મહારાજા સયાજીરાવ ગાયકવાડની સરકાર દ્વારા ૧૯૨૬ માં ઓખામાં બારમાસી બંદર બનાવવામાં આવતા ઓખા ના વિકાસ માં વેગ મળ્યો. ભારતને સ્વતંત્રતા મળતાં ઓખાનો મુંબઇ રાજયનાં અમરેલી જીલ્લામાં સમાવેશ કરવામાં આવ્યો. ૧૯૬૦ માં ગુજરાત રાજય અસ્તિવમાં આવતાં ઓખા નગર નો સમાવેશ ગુજરાત રાજયનાં જામનગર જીલ્લામાં કરવામાં આવ્યો. ૧૯૫૩ માં ઓખા ડિસ્ટ્રીક્ટ મ્યુનીસિપાલીટીની સ્થાપના થઇ અને ત્યાર પછી ગુજરાત પંચાયત અમલ માં આવતા ઓખા ગ્રામ પંચાયત ની રચના થઇ.

બેટ – દ્વારકા એ અતિ પ્રાચિન રમણીય ચંદ્રાકાર ટાપુ છે. ભગવાન શ્રી કૃષ્ણએ શંખ નામના રાક્ષસનો અહિયાં ઉધ્ધાર કરેલ શંખોધ્ધાર તરીકે પણ ઓળખાય છે. બેટ – દ્વારકા હિન્દુ, મુસ્લીમ તથા શિખના પવિત્ર યાત્રાધામ તરીકે વધારે ઓળખાય છે. ઓખાથી બેટ – દ્વારકા ત્રણ નોટીકલ માઇલનાં અંતરે છે અને યાંત્રીક વહાણમાં ઓખા પેસેન્જર જેટી થી પવિત્ર યાત્રાધામ બેટ – દ્વારકા પહોંચી શકાય છે. જેમ દ્વારકાનગરી ભગવાન શ્રી દ્વારકાધીશની રાજધાની કહેવાય છે.

સ્થાપત્ય ઇતિહાસ ભગવાન શ્રી કૃષ્ણએ મથુરાથી આવી અરબસાગર કિનારે દ્વારકાનગરી વસાવી અને જે સ્થળેથી બેટ-શંખોધ્ધાર જવાતું તે હાલનું ગામ આરંભડા.પૌરાણીક સમયનું કુશસ્થળ અથવા આરંભદ્વાર. ભૌગોલીક મહત્વ: જામનગર જીલ્લાનાં દ્વારકા તાલુકા માંહેનુ આરંભડા એ એક ઐતિહાસીક ગામ છે. વાઢેર (રાઠોડ) વંશનાં રાજવીઓનું રાજ હતું. મોગલોનાં સમયમાં સવાજી રાઠોડની આણ વર્તાતી હતી. આ ઐતિહાસીક નગરને ફરતે મજબુત કિલ્લા-બરજ હતાં.

સ્થાપત્ય ઇતિહાસ દ્વારકાથી ઓખા આવતાં ૨૦ કી.મી.નાં અંતરે ટાટા કેમીકલ્સ લી. – મીઠાપુર ખાતે સોડા એશ નમક બનાવતો ઉધોગ આવે છે. મીઠાપુરથી ૨ કી.મી.નાં અંતરે કંપનીનાં વિસ્તારની બાજુમાં સૂરજકરાડી નગર આવેલ છે. ભૌગોલીક મહત્વ : સૂરજકરાડી ગામ એ આજુબાજુનાં ગામડાંના ખેત-મજુરો, સારૂં હટાણું ખરીદી કરવાનું સ્થાન છે. ઉપરાંત ટાટા કેમીકલ્સ ઉધોગ જે આજુબાજુનાં બેરોજગારોને રોજગારીની તક પૂરી પાડે છે.
