જામનગર જીલ્લાનાં ઓખા મંડળ તાલુકાનાં ૪૨ ગામો પૈકી ચાર ગામ ઓખા ગ્રામ પંચાયત, બેટ-દ્વારકા ગ્રામ પંચાયત, આરંભડા ગ્રામ પંચાયત અને સૂરજકરાડી ગ્રામ પંચાયત નું એકત્રીકરણ કરી ૨૦૦૬ માં નવા અધિનિયમ અંતર્ગત શહેરી વિકાસ મંત્રાલય દ્રારા નગરપાલીકાની રચના કરવામાં આવી છે.

જામનગર થી ઓખા રેલમાર્ગ તથા રસ્તા દ્વારા પહોંચી શકાય છે. જામનગર થી દ્વારકાનું અંતર ૧૭૦ કી.મી. છે અને દ્વારકાથી ઓખાનું અંતર ૩૦ કી.મી. છે. ગુજરાતના પાટનગર ગાંધીનગરથી તેનું અંતર ૪૪૦ કી.મી. છે. ઓખા નગરપાલીકા વિસ્તારનાં ત્રણેય બાજુ અરબી સમુદ્ર છે.

ઓખાથી બોટમાં બેસીને જળમાર્ગે બેટ- દ્વારકા જવાય છે. બેટ-દ્વારકા હિંદુ સંપ્રદાય માટે ખૂબ મહત્વ ધરાવે છે તથા શીખ સંપ્રદાયનાં પવિત્ર યાત્રા – તીર્થ સ્થાનો પણ અહિં આવેલ છે. આ સ્થળ પર્યટન માટે ઘણા સમયથી જાણીતુ અને ખૂબ જ રમણીય છે.

બેટ-દ્વારકાની આજુબાજુમાં આવેલ ટાપુઓ પરથી ઉગતાં સૂર્યનાં પ્રથમ કિરણો જોઇ શકાય છે અને નયનરમ્ય સૂર્યાસ્ત પણ માણી શકાય છે.

ઓખાનાં સમુદ્ર તટને તથા બેટ-દ્વારકાનાં સમુદ્ર તટને પર્યટન સ્થળનાં વિકાસનાં તમામ કારણો ઉપલબ્ધ છે.

મા. ગુજરાત સરકારશ્રી દ્વારા નવા બનતાં ઓખા નગરપાલીકાનાં તમામ ગામોનાં વિકાસનાં દ્વારા ખુલી ગયા છે અને સરકારાશ્રી ની યોજનાનો લાભ છેવાડાનાં નાગરીકો સુધી પહોંચી રહ્યો છે.

ઓખા નગરપાલીકામાં બઘા કર્મચારીઓને શિખવવામાં આવે છે કે કોઈ પણ વ્યક્તિ સામાન્ય નથી. જનતાનો અવાજ સાંભળવો એ અમારુ કર્તવ્ય છે. જે જનતા કહે છે તે અમે સાંભળી છીએ. બઘા જ લોકો અમારા અતિથી છે અને તેની સંભાળ લેવી એ અમારુ કર્તવ્ય છે.
